Progress / Research

While I was working on this project I decided to make extra prints for me to keep as posters. I made these posters in blue to give to my father and keep for myself. These posters were made before the final project editions as mock-up prints.

In today's critiques, I was impressed by my peers' screen printings and concertina folding. I enjoyed seeing the colours and stylistic choices they all made. I feel that I learned more about the style of bookbinding through the work my peers had done.

I am inspired by this method, despite the struggle I experienced while working on this project. I would like to explore screen printing more in my free time. I plan on using concertina folding more in future projects.

While working on this assignment I collected images of Colophones and Concertina folds so that I could better understand the layout of this bookbinding method. The images I found for Colophones varied, so I chose my favourite inclusions for my final product. 

While in the library viewing the book collections, I found myself searching in the many books for the colophones now that I understand how helpful they are in understanding the methods and materials used in bookmaking. Some of my favourites included author signatures and unique symbols
